Annual Meeting Report

April 17, 2012

Hello Folks! Here are some of the highlights of our Annual Meeting held on April 11:

1. Our corporate status is in order and liability insurance will be renewed by Jay.

2. Our new webmaster John Hackney has done a bang-up job. Not only do we have our new site/link on the Onion River Sports page but we now have our own email, stowebikeclub@gmail.com Send John information you want posted to that email. Also check out the new website, www.onionriver.com/community/local-clubs/sbc

3. Cap’s Board of Directors term was up but he was re-elected to serve another three year stint. Also, I was re-elected President for my FINAL year, Cap Vice Pres and Jay Secretary/Treasurer. Amanda Tucker is PIT, President in Training. She will be helping me out this summer as I will not be around for many of the time trials.

4. No one showed up to discuss the Onion River Racing Team merger so it was tabled.

5. We will once again join the Bike/Ped coalition but will not be participating as a club in the Ride of Silence this year. Brenda Goss reported on the 2011 Bike/Ped forum which she attended as our representative. The 2012 forum is on October 24. I hope to attend this year but, if any one of you really wants to go, let me know and you can represent us. Amanda did the first year, Brenda the second. Thanks gals!

6. We discussed PICNIC EXPENSES and put the lid on. From now on hosts/hostesses will be reimbursed up to $150.00 for providing the main fare, eg. burgers, dogs, chicken, lasagna and accoutrements. We encourage hosts/hostesses to pass on their extra condiments and paper plates etc. Beer and other booze and liquids will be BYOB. We will assign categories for dishes to share based on the first letter of your last name, eg. A-H appetizers, I-N side dishes, O-S desserts, T-Z salads. I’ll ask the hosts/hostesses to decide the categories based on what they plan to serve and so the assignments before each picnic. This idea was tossed out to get a varied spread and encourage riders to bring different contributions, except for the Falcon who MUST bring cornbread always!!!!!

7. MEMBERSHIP DUES have been increased to $30 individual, $45 family, effective April 11. Non-members can ride up to three time trials provided they sign the waiver form but then must join. Applications/waivers are up on the website.

8. The WEBSITE will govern the schedule and timers. Sign up to be a timer by emailing John Hackney at stowebikeclub@gmail.com and he will put your name up if the space is available. Please check the site to make sure you are listed. If you cannot make your timer commitment, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get a substitute there.

9. WEATHER CANCELLATIONS will again be called by 4:30. We will phone Onion River Sports and put out a club email if we cancel. Cap and Jay, you need to decide May 2 and May 9 please.

10. Check out the 2012 Time Trial schedule and picnics on the website. Our first two time trials beginning May 2 are Middlesex. I will not be there. Cap is in charge. Please do not huddle around the timers until they are done. The results will be posted on the new website as soon as possible after the week’s trial. Either Donna or Cap will be painting the turnaround line. Paul Falcone has offered to be in charge of martialling at turn arounds. Donna is going to do cue sheets to have at the starts, especially for new riders. IF YOU MOVE A CONE, please tell the timers so there are no surprises, eg. newcomers wondering where to turn around. Jay has offered to do course profiles to put up on the website. We still need a picnic in July.

I think that about sums it up. Please download the application and bring it to the time trials and give it to Jay, or mail it to me. We need your waiver. Be safe out there. Happy biking. See you soon on one of the courses. Prez “not for life” Dot

“This was our first tour–but definitely not our last. The staff of the Mass BikePike Tour consistently went above and beyond the call of duty.”
