Kick off Halloween with a 5k running race through the streets of downtown Montpelier—in costume! The mostly-flat 5k course starts on Langdon Street, crosses the steps of the State House, then heads out the rec. path and returns along State Street to finish in front of Onion River Sports.
All ages and abilities welcome. Costumes encouraged, but not required. Special category for kids 13 and under. Strollers welcome, too.
Prize awarded for best costume, as well as prizes for overall men’s and women’s finishers, kids’ category, and a tricks-and-treats raffle for all participants.
Registration: online at RunReg.com or day-of opens at 8:30am in the Onion River Sports parking lot. Fees: $15 for all ages (kids in strollers free). All proceeds benefit Dirt Divas program of Vermont Works for Women.
Dirt Divas is a program of Vermont Works for Woman dedicated to supporting girls’ positive development through mountain biking, outdoor adventure, group experience, and personal reflection, in order to help adolescent girls successfully navigate the challenges associated with this developmental period. Grounded in research on girls’ development, the Dirt Divas programs support girls’ capacity for self-confidence, physical and emotional resiliency, healthy relationships, positive body image, and regular physical activity. Program activities emphasize building physical, social, and emotional skills that will serve girls in their everyday lives.
