2009 Tuesday Night Mtn Bike Race Series
Categories for Women, Men, and Kids of all ages and abilities. Course is the 3.2 mile Tour de Farm loop with climbs, descents, singletrack, double track, and great views. Riders can choose up to three loops. There is also a shorter loops for the Kids Loop and the Onion River Kids Bike Adventure Challenge for non-competitive kids.
Entry fee is $8 for folks 13 and up, $5 for kids 12 and under, $4 for kids participating in the Adventure Challenge. Races start at 6 sharp/ Category winners and all kids get a free Creemee!

Onion River Kids Bike Adventure Challenge

Join us for a summer of Tuesday night adventure challenges, on bikes. Each week will be different non-competitive activity: scavenger hunts, relays, skill building nights, etc. - all tons of fun, for kids of all ages and abilities. These are family-fun-bike-centric evenings, so bring the whole crew. There will still be a racing component for competitive kids, but we've created this adventure challenge to make Tuesdays more fun and more accessible for a wider variety of kids on bikes. 4th Annual Montpelier Mile

The Montpelier Rotary Club and Onion River Sports will host the 4th Annual Montpelier Mile Friday, July 3, 2009. This annual running race kicks-off Montpelier's popular Independence Day Parade with a one measured-mile road race beginning at the Chittenden Bank Pocket Park, heading east toward the intersection of State and Main Streets, then turning north on Main Street, going around the Rotary and returning to the start. At the quarter mile mark, roughly the corner of State and Main Streets, the first man and woman to the mark win the Community National Bank “Dash for Cash,” cash prize. The race begins prior to the parade at 6 pm, sharp. The Montpelier Mile raises funds for the many charitable organizations and projects of the Montpelier Rotary Club and is supported by volunteers from the Montpelier Rotary Club. The race is sponsored by local Montpelier businesses Onion River Sports, Silver Lake Wealth Management, Heney Realty, and Community National Bank. The current course records were established in the 2007 Montpelier Mile. The men's record is held by Nathan Brigham at 4:22 minutes and the women's record is held by Heidi Westerling at 5:00 minutes.
Pre-registration (thru June 27) fee is $10 for adults; regular registration fees are $15 for adults, $10 for adults accompanying children, and $5.00 for children under 12. Registration now open online through www.OnionRiver.com or in person at Onion River Sports, 20 Langdon Street, Montpelier. Day of race registration will be held at the Chittenden Bank pocket park and will be open from 4 pm until 5:30 pm.

ORS Group Rides

Join ORS for weekly road rides to train, get in shape, and meet other like minded cyclists.
All of our rides are open, no registration is necessary, but you must wear a helmet, be familiar with the rules of the road, and know how to change a flat tire. If you don't know how to change a flat, check out our bi-monthly Friday Night Fix Clinics. Unless otherwise noted, all rides leave the Onion River Sports parking lot.
Tuesday Night Ladies Rides: Tuesdays at 5:30pm open to all ladies, this is a 20-30 mile ride, depending upon the group. Often an A (faster) and B (slower) group. This ride has a no-drop policy - but riders should be familiar with the route before they leave. E-mail Carrie at thefolks@onionriver.com to join the Ladies Ride e-mail list.
Tuesday Morning Rides: Tuesday 5:30am -7:30am
: Slower ride, no drop policy. Leaves the ORS parking lot unless otherwise specified on the Onion River Racing rides list serve (please sign up at the Onion River Racing website.). Route announced at ride time.
Thursday Night Rides: Thursdays at 6pm
Join the Onion River Racing team for a weekly training ride, this is a faster ride and if you get dropped, they will not wait for you, so please be familiar with the route before you leave. Routes change every week, depending upon the group, but most are 30 to 35 miles.
Saturday Morning Rides: Saturdays at 7:00am a long ride with a no drop policy. Routes are usually 50+ miles and take 4+ hours. Please check out the Onion River Racing website. for more info and RSVP information.
Mountain Bike Rides: Wednesdays at 5:30pm:group rides on the trails in and around Montpelier. Carpooling is available, ride locations change weekly.

6th Annual Onion River Century Ride

Saturday, July 25, 2009.Registration begins at 7:30 am, police escort through town leaves at 8:30 am at the Montpelier Rec Field. Police escorts riders through town, escort ends at Walker Motors. Entry fee is $50 before 7/13, $65 after that and DOR. Registration fee includes:Coffee at registration provided by Capitol Grounds; Food stops approximately every 20 miles; Sag Wagon / mechanical and emotional support along the ride; Delicious end of ride BBQ!
