BioU: Fall Waterfowl - Field trip to the Champlain Valley

Build your birding skills by exploring the shores and bays of the Champlain Valley with NBNC experts in search of fall migratory waterfowl. Learn to find and identify the more challenging ducks, geese, grebes, and other species residing in Lake Champlain and its tributaries. For the more advanced birder, learn to confidently parse out lookalikes like Ross’s Goose and Snow Goose or Lesser Scaup and Greater Scaup. For the newer birder, learn how to use important field identification cues like wing pattern and flight profile to discriminate between different types of waterfowl. A fun and instructive day of field ornithology. Led by NBNC Staff Naturalist Sean Beckett.

This program is preceded on 11/8 by a public presentation on waterfowl ID and behavior. Participants of this field workshop are encourage, but not required, to attend.

Fee: $35 (members) / $45 (non-members).

Group size: up to 12 participants.
Miniumum age: 14+ or 10+ with parent.

Carpool departing from NBNC at 7 AM and from the Sheraton Hotel in Burlington at 7:45 AM, returning to NBNC by 3 PM.
